WTSD has been conducting a series of Skid steer loader (Bobcat) courses for Mid North Coast participants. Feedback has been very encouraging and matches the success rates of the participants.
Monday-Day One
The first half-day covers Bobcat theory, PowerPoint presentation and videos covering all aspects of the forklift truck and safe operating procedures. Participants are given a 40 page-training manual which includes the National Assessment Instrument. There is a talk through of the written/oral assessment with correct answers provided.
The afternoon consists of participants being introduced to the practical aspects of Bobcat operation, pre-operational checks and parking procedures.
This session is conducted at our external training facility. Location details will be provided on the day.
Tuesday-Day Two
Participants are given a series of exercises to complete such as loading and levelling spoil, digging, navigating obstacles, reversing and driving.
Lunch is provided before participants are run through what will be expected of them when they undertake their assessment. Participants are observed and assessed to meet the competencies.
After a debrief, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance, complete an evaluation form and have their assessments booked.
The Assessment
An Assessor that is totally independent to the Trainer, to meet legislative requirements, must conduct assessments, the accredited Assessor we utilise charges $165 per test.
Participants who successfully complete the test are issued with a provisional licence, which is valid for 60 days.
Workcover NSW
Within 60 days, this provisional licence must be presented to Workcover where a Certificate of Competency in Front End Loader of the Skid Steer Type card will be issued at a further cost of $65
The Qualification
A Certificate of Competency in Front End Loader of the Skid Steer Type Operations is handy qualification for potential job seekers. It is portable across all industry groups and is a must for people with truck licences.
