Established in 2003, to address the skills deficiencies in regional areas, by Warren Smith who had a training background that went back to the early 1990’s as an Army Instructor with 22 Construction Regiment RAE, was the Chairman of the OHS Committee with Transfield Tunnelling at a time when they held the world safety record and 30 years’ experience in the Construction Industry in varying roles.
WTSD PTY LTD initially delivered OHS Construction Induction training, Traffic Controller, forklift and Job search training for new start recipients in partnership with Wesley Uniting Employment. At one stage, WTSD employed 14 staff from Tuncurry to Ballina. This gave an opportunity to institute compliance management systems, operational procedures and formalise approved training packages to accommodate a network of clients who were demanding more training services, which consequently led to an expansion of the business.
A gradual reduction in regional employment pursuit and a subsequent growth in the resources and infrastructure projects have seen an expansion of our consultancy operation to deployments state wide in NSW and Queensland. Certificate II and III in Civil Construction are assessed either on-the-job or through formalised courses of instruction that focus on elective competencies such as pipe laying or concreting in a tangible vocational environment.
Essential industry prerequisites such as White card-General Construction Induction, Traffic Control, High Risk Work tickets in Dogging, Rigging and Scaffolding, HSR training, Plant tickets, confined spaces, work at heights, chainsaws, and RMS Bridgework concreting courses facilitate the enhancement of career paths in the workplace by addressing industry skills deficiencies.
Well-known for subject matter knowledge and understanding, the WTSD reputation is soundly complimented by our professional trainers who have extensive construction experience with established business relationships and current industry employment.
